Sal da Vinci (Italy 2026) with Johannes

Interview with Sal da Vinci (Italy 2026):  The Winner of the San Remo Song Festival was Sal da Vinci with the song "Per Sempre Si" and with this represented Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 coming from Vienna, Austria. Although quite a retro song it pleased Europe's audience and the juries of the Eurovision and reached 5th place in the Grand Final. Radio International's Johannes was invited backstage in the dressing room of Sal da Vinci for an interview before he went on stage. Eva Marija (Luxembourg 2026)

Interview with Eva Marija (Luxembourg 2026): Since Luxembourg's return in 2024 this year's entry sadly did not qualify Luxembourg for the Grand Final. Eva-Marija performed the song "Mother Nature"  and the Radio International Interview had the big pleasure to be chatting with Eva Marija at the Turquoise Carpet at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna. Marc and Salman conducted that interview. 

 

Cesar Sampson (Austria 2018)

Interview with Cesar Sampson (Austria 2018): In the run up to the Eurovision Song Contest 2026's rehearsal and show week many festivities and parties happen in the host city of Vienna. The Norwegian Embassy - in honour of Jonas Lovv threw a garden party inviting the Ambassadors and Musical Ambassadors plus journalists from Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway. JP bumped into Cesar Sampson who was also invited to this reception and conducted an interview regarding his involvement in Eurovision 2026. Cesar represented Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with the song "Nobody but you" coming 3rd. Listen to find out the details. 

 

 

 

The Eurovision Spotlight - The Magic Letter Game: As summer has officially arrived on the northern hemisphere of the globe it means that it is also time for the summer feature for the next few weeks. The summer feature is the Magic Letter Game involving Eurovision Songs which you will be presented by the Radio International Team of Experts :). Chris Poppe continues this brand new series and will explain the Rules of the Game. :)

Eurovision Winner Lordi (Finland 2006) with JP in Vienna, Austria

 

Interview with Eurovision Winner Lordi (Finland 2006):  It was in 2006 when the Eurovision Monster Lordi won the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 with the song "Hardrock Halleluja". Eurovision celebrates 70 whereas Lordi celebrated 20 years after the Eurovision Victory and he did that in Vienna with his supporting monsters being part of the brilliant Interval Act in the Grand Final of Eurovision 2026. JP had the big pleasure to interview Lordi once again after 20 years in Athens. Listen to this chat on the show this week. Lordi delivered some great news in regards with Johnny Logan, who won Eurovision in 1980 and 1987 for Ireland as singer and in 1992 as songwriter.

 

Kristian Kostov (Bulgaria 2017) in Vienna at Eurovision 2026

Interview with Kristian Kostov (Bulgaria 2027):  The best-ever result of Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest was until 2025 the entry from Kristian Kostov who in 2017 reached second place with the song "Beautiful Mess". Portugal had won that particular Eurovision Song Contest with Salvador Sobral and the song "Amar pelos dois".  Kristian was in Vienna at the Eurovision Song Contest as being part of the 70 year celebration of the Eurovision Song Contest and performed as part of the interval act bring luck to Dara as she won the 70th Eurovision Song Contest for Bulgaria with the song "Bangaranga".  JP had the pleasure of an update interview with Kristian in the Media Centre of Eurovision 2026 which you can hear on this week's edition of Radio International.

 

Monroe (France 2026)

 

Interview with Monroe (France 2026):  During the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 the newest member of the Radio International Team, Johannes, went to the French Embassy to interview the Musical Ambassador to France and the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 - Monroe. She performed the song "Regarde" which ranked 11th in the Grand Final at the end of the voting sequence. ESSYLA (Belgium 2026)

 

Interview Clip with ESSYLA (Belgium 2026):  Belgium successfully qualified for the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with ESSYLA and her entry entitled "Dancing on the Ice" reaching Number 21 with 36 points. The Interview Team of Radio International met the singer at the Turquoise Carpet for a quick update chat you can hear on the show this week.

Kirsti Sparboe (Norway 1965, 1967 and 1969)

Tribute to Kirsti Sparboe (Norway 1965,1967, 1969): Late last week the Eurovision Community learned that one of Norway's Eurovision entrant has passed away at the age of 79. Kirsti Sparboe represented Norway not one, not twice but three times in the 60s. In 1965 she reached 13th with the song "Karusell", then in 1967 almost won the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, Austria with the song "Dukkermann" coming 2nd. In 1969 she returned with the song "Oj,oj,oj,sa glad jeg skal bli" coming 16th. Kirsti Sparboe passed away on 19 Jun 2026. Radio International has prepared a special tribute to Kirsti. Rest on Peace!

Eurovision Winner 2026 for Bulgaria - Dara "Bangaranga"

 

The Grand Final of the 70th Eurovision Song Contest took place on 16 May 2026 from the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria with delegations from 35 countries battling it out for the winning trophy of the contest and the right to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2027. For the very first time Bulgaria won the competiton with Dara and the song "Bangaranga" receiving a total amount of 516 points combined from Public and Jury Vote. The Radio International Team was on location and had the chance to interviews many of the artists at different places such as Turqoise Carpet, in the Media Centre, at the Embassies as well as in the Eurovillage. Enjoy those interviews being broadcast on Radio International during the upcoming shows. 

Søren Torpegaard Lund (Denmark 2026)

 

This week there is a short interview clip with Søren Torpegaard Lund who represented Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 with the song "Før vi går hjem" which came 7th in the Grand Final. Radio International's Newscaster Johannes had the pleasure to chat with Sören. Listen to the interview on this week's edition of Radio International

Martin Rolinski and Tess Merkel (Vienna, Austria 2026)

 

Interview with Tess Merkel (Alcazar) and Martin Rolinski (BWO):  A brand new project was born just before the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in Vienna, Austria when Tess Merkel who was one of the members of Alcazar and Martin Rolinski who was one the lead singer of the Swedish group BWO (Body Without Organs) got together. They first project is called "Let there be love". Both Swedish artists came to Vienna to perform this song and also others in fron tof the many Eurovision Fans that have visited Vienna and the Eurovillage as part of the Eurovision Song Contest 2026. BWO had great hits and took part a few times in Melodifestivalen e.g. "Lay your love on me" and Alcazar had great successes in Melo and beyond as their biggest international hit is "Crying at the Discotheque". Radio International's JP had the honour and the pleasure to meet Tess and Martin in Vienna at the Eurovillage for an in-depth interview you will be able to hear on this week's edition of Radio International. 

Lelek (Croatia 2026)

Interview with Lelek (Croatia 2026):  What an amazing entry to the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 came from Croatia this year by girl group Lelek performing the song "Andromeda" reaching the Grand Final from the Semi Final and then at the end of the Voting Sequence reached Number 15. Radio International's Johannes had the chance to meet and interview with one of the members of Lelek before the Grand Final of the  contest this year.
