Dr. Bernd Meinunger (Lyricist of "Ein bisschen Frieden")

 

Tribute to Dr. Bernd Meinunger: The sad news of the passing of Dr. Bernd Meinunger reached the Eurovision Community and beyond on 18 Oct 2025. Bernd Meinunger was a song producer and lyricist and had successes with 18 of his creations in the Eurovision Song Contest including Germany's first winning song performed by Nicole entitled "Ein bisschen Frieden" at the Eurovision Song Contest 1982. The lyrics were written by Bernd Meinunger and Ralph Siegel wrote the music. All in all Bernd Meinunger wrote about 5500 songs from the the 1970s until 2025. Sadly, he passed away on 17 Oct 2025. Due to the sad news Radio International will remember Bernd Meinunger during this week's edition of the show by playing all his 18 Eurovision entries which were mainly for Germany but also for Luxembourg, San Marino, Switzerland and Montenegro.  Rest in Peace:  Dr. Bernd Meinunger 30 Sep 1944 - 17 Oct 2025.

 

 

 

The Eurovision Spotlight - The history of Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest:  It is Autumn 2025 it also time for the traditional look at the next host country's Eurovision Song Contest entries. JJ won Eurovision 2025 and with that Austria will host the Eurovision Song Contest 2026 in the Wiener Stadthalle on 12 and 14 May 2026 for the two Semi Finals and the Grand Finale to take place on Saturday, 16 May 2026. Over the next weeks and before the National Final Season for 2026, Radio International's team members will be reviewing all the Eurovision entries from Austria. Dermot Manning will be continuing series of the Eurovision Spotlight looking at the history of Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest.
