Sonja Lumme (Finland 1985) at Eurovision Club Germany's Annual Convention 2024 |
Interview with Sonja Lumme (Finland 1985): The Eurovision Song Contest 1985 came from The Skandinavium of Gothenburg in Sweden and the contest was won by the Bobbysocks from Norway with the song "Let it swing". Finland was represented by Sonja Lumme with the song "Eläköön elämä" coming 9th in the Eurovision Song Contest in that year. Sonja tried a few times to represent Finland at the contest and finally in 1985 it was the case. Salman and JP were at the recent edition of the Eurovision Club Germany's annual Convention 2024 on Saturday, 23 Nov 2024 and chatted with Sonja Lumme about her time at Eurovision and her career before and after Eurovision. Listen to this interview on the show this week and also with some of Sonja's music.
The Home Composed Song Contest 2024: The annual music competition for non-professional musicians takes place again and is already in full swing. The public and jury already cast their votes as well. Visit the website of the Home Composed Song Contest - click here
The Home Composed Song Contest is in its 33rd year, this is a competition for Eurovision fans who write, perform and produce their own music, who enter their own original song composition (audio only) and then also take part as a jury, to help choose the winning song. This year there are 28 songs from 13 different countries, and you can listen to the songs, and read the lyrics and bios on the official website - click here
The Radio International Team once again formed one Jury and you will be able to hear the songs also on Radio International - The Ultimate Eurovision Experience. Once again very high standards this year. Well done to all participants and may the best entry win.
There is a delay in the Grand Final show where the results will be published. As soon as the details are available Radio International will inform you on the show as well on this website.
Eurovision Spotlight - The History of Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest: The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 was won by Nemo who represented Switzerland in Malmoe, Sweden this year with the song "The Code". With that victory Nemo took the contest back to Switzerland where it all begun in 1956 with the late Lys Assia from Switzerland being the first Winner of the Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Refrain". Celine Dion from Canada represented and won for Switzerland with the song "Ne partez pas sans moi" in 1988 giving Switzerland three victories.
As a tradition the Team of Radio International reviews all the Eurovision entries of the upcoming host country and this week Eurovision Lordship Marcus Keppel-Palmer closes the current series in the Eurovision Spotlight taking a look at the Swiss entries to the Eurovision Song Contest.
Also JP will be joined by David Mann for the Eurovision Birthday File and Eurovision Coverspot. Nick will be presenting the Eurovision News courtesy of escXtra.com. There will be a lot of the great new releases of Eurovision artists on the show as well as great Eurovision Classics.
