Cornelia Jakobs (Sweden 2022) winning Melodifestivalen |
Melodifestivalen 2022 Interviews with John Lundvik, Robin Bengtsson, Faith Kekembo and Theoz: Sweden's Biggest and Best TV Show Melodifestivalen ended on Saturday 12 Mar 2022 with the Grand Final after funneling down the 28 entries via four heats, two semi finals and the Grand Final. Swedish broadcaster SVT received way over 2000 songs for the 2022 edition of Melodifestivalen which on Saturday was won by Cornelia Jakobs with the song "Hold me closer" and will be representing Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Semi Final 2 Second Half. The Radio International Interview Team was in Stockholm, Sweden and interviewed all the contestants of Melodifestivalen plus more.
This week on Radio International hear the interviews with former Winners of Melodifestivalen and Swedish representatives at the Eurovision Song Contest. In total, three former winners took part in the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen, Anna Bergendahl (2010), Robin Bengtsson (2017) and John Lundvik (2019). This week Radio International is delighted to broadcast the interviews with Robin Bengtsson who with "I can't go on" took part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine. Two years later John Lundvik and the Mamas represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the song "Too late for love". Both Swedish entries reached 5th place in Eurovision and both artists shared the stage of Meldifestivalen 2022.
Radio International had the big pleasure to meet Robin and John for an interview on their 2022 participation in Melodifestivalen 2022. Robin Bengtsson's entry was written by Swedish Singer / Songwriter Victor Crone who represented Estonia at Eurovision 2019 with the song "The Storm". The song in the running for Robin is called "Innocent Love" and reached 11th place in the Grand Final of Melodifestivalen 2022.
JP also met John Lundvik on his participation in the current contest right after the first dress rehearsal of Melodifestivalen 2022. This time John took a Swedish song into the running called "Änglavakt" that came 8th. The English version of the song is called "Lights go low".
Also Radio International had the pleasure to meet and interview Faith Kekembo during the rehearsal week of Melodiestivalen 2022 who performed the song "Freedom" coming 10th. In the interview she'll be telling us all about her musical career but also her other career. Listen to the interviews on the show this week.

Further the Interview Team of Radio International had the pleasure to interview Cazzi Opeia and Theoz together inthe Press Hall of Melodifestivalen 2022. Enjoy this funny interview with some of Sweden's finest singes. Theoz performed "Som du vill" which came 7th in the Grand Final of Melodfiestivalen 2022 and Cazzi Opeia reached Number 9 with the song "I can't get enough".
