Interview with Sam Ryder (United Kingdom 2022): In recent weeks, in Eurovision circles, the United Kingdom was much in the news in regards to hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. Ukraine won the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 and normally, the winning country also becomes the host country the following year. Due to the war in Ukraine, the EBU together with the BBC decided to host Eurovision 2023 with the participation of Ukrainian television. Now the race is on to find the most suitable British city to host Eurovision 2023. Also no date has been announced as yet. So all is very excited.
Sam Ryder is on the show this week and tells us about his time at Eurovision 2022 as well as his reception back home in the United Kingdom when he returned from sunny Turino. Sam represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Copntest 2023 with the song "Spaceman" coming second to the Kalush Orchestra from Ukraine. This interview is courtesy of RTL.

Tributes to Olivia Newton-John and Margot Eskens: Sadly the Eurovision Family had to say "Goodbye" for two performers at the Eurovision Song Contest. Olivia Newton-John represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 1974 coming fourth with the song "Long Live Love". Olivia lost the battle with cancer on 08 Aug 2022 and passed away at the age of 73.
Margot Eskens represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 1966 with the song "Die Zeiger der Uhr" coming 10th. Margot fell ill with dementia and passed away at the age of 83 on 29 July 2022. Listen to two special tributes on this week's edition of Radio International.
Vesa-Matti Loiri represented Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 1980 with the song "Huilumies". He passed away on 10 August 2022 at the age of 77 following the battle with cancer.
Interview with Deen (Bosnia and Herzegovina 2004): As part of our Interview Hour this week on Radio International the team is extremely happy to welcome to the show DEEN who in 2004 represented Bosnia and Herzegovina with the song "In the Disco" coming 9th in Istanbul, Turkey. Then in 2016 he returned to the contest as part of Deen, Dalal Midhat-Talakić, Ana Rucner and rapper Jala Brat in the song "Ljubav je". The song reached Number 11 in Semi Final 1 at the contest in Stockholm, Sweden. Deen certainly left a lasting impression in 2004 and every Eurovisiokn fan remembers the legendary "In the Disco" and the dance moves going along with it. Deen has moved to the USA and the Team of Radio International is curious how his career developed since we first saw him at the Eurovision Song Contest and how he experienced his participation at the Eurovision Song Contest twice.
Listeners are encouraged to actively take part during the show to submit their questions to the artist via our Facebook Chatroom during the live broadcast on Wednesday evening from 1900 - 2300 hours CET or via our website's email address - click here.
